Welcome to Brno in the Czech Republic

I have updated this web page and now it is called www.brnoguide.webs.com .

Welcome to Brno, the Czech Republic's "second city" (population 400,000), 2.5 hours east of Prague (by train or bus) and (1.5 hours north of Vienna) in the heart of the southern Moravian wine country. Slower paced than Prague and off the tourist path, the Brno region offers hiking and biking through the highlands and vineyards, folk festivals, UNESCO sites, but most of all its famous open-hearted southern Moravian hospitality.

I am ready to help you to arrange the following services during your stay in BRNO, the CZECH REPUBLIC:

Me Me
  • To find an accommodation, (short or a long term stay)
  • Act as a tour guide
  • To arrange various excursions
  • To organise tailor made trips
  • To buy bus and train tickets and tickets to various venues
  • To provide on-line help
  • To help you to find a job teaching English in the Czech Republic
  • To act as an interpreter

  • Method of payment: PayPal or cash.

Hot news

In May 2014 I am organising a trip to KUZELOV, (visit to a preserved wind mill) and nice open air museum preserving the local buidings from Eastern Moravia in the Czech Republic. See the description of the trip here:

The Vlcnov festival, with its traditional Ride of the Kings is approaching. On 25 May 2014 there will be a unique opportunity to see an array of folk costumes at the Ride of the Kings in the village VLCNOV near Uherske Hradiste.(about 100 km east of Brno). You will have a chance to relax and enjoy folk songs, dances, costumes, exhibitions or a glass of wine in Vlcnov wine cellars. I am organising a one day trip, see the description of the trip here

I have created new web page BRNOguide offering trips and tours in and around BRNO and its environs. Please see it and I would appreciate any comment to help me to improve this web site.

Try to sample some out of 180 kinds of beer, mostly domestic = Czech, but also some imported at the BEER STORE on Vesela Street 26, BRNO. Unfortunately this web page is not in English.

A very good friend of mine Mirek is a keen nature lover and an excellent photographer. Almost every weekend he sets out for a trip and comes back with lots of interesting photos from the Brno region. I am happy to share his photos with you. THis time enjoy a virtual tour of the PALAVA region, which is about 40 km south of Brno. Click on DETAILED INFO to see his photos. The PALAVA BIOSPHERE RESERVE is an ideal place for hiking with a final stop in Mikulv with a bottle of south Moravian wine. PALAVA BIOSPHERE RESERVE

What a cute exhibition. The MENINSKA GATE, which is the only preserved town gate in Brno, hosts an exhibition about toys. Not only kids are welcome, bring your uncles, aunts along with you. You can see old toys, dolls, small prams, dishes, animals, toy cars or pupets. Address: Měnínská brána 7, Brno, MO - SU 10:00 to 18:00.

All castles and chateaux reopen 1 April
On September 30th majority of the castles, chatteaux, manor houses and other attractions in the Czech Republic close for the season and reopen to the visitors after the winter season on 1 April. Hop on board and enjoy the trip with www.BRNOguide.webs.com

GRAND PRIX If you don´t know what MotoGP is then it was a mistake to click on this link. MotoGP is currently the most exciting form of motorised sport in the world, forget cars of any kind and the boring F1! The MotoGP "circus" comes to Brno in the third week of August every year to race on the new(ish) automotodrom to the west of the city near Rosice. The area quickly fills with visitors from all across Europe who all come to watch the racing at this exciting track. As well as having a track that makes the riders work hard, for westerners the ticket price is very cheap, the beer is very cheap. Beer, food, shades, sun hat and something to sit on.

In order to find reasonable accommodation, please contact me as early as possible, preferrably in January.

Enjoy a visit to the thermal spa about 75 km south of BRNO in a small Austrian town Laa under Thaya where you can enjoy 34 to 36 C water, jacquzzi. water slide, sauna or bathing in a swimming pool with salty water.

I can arrange transportation either for a solo traveller or groups. Please contact me here

To be able to find any street in the Czech Republic and especially in Brno, use the browser called MAPY.cz, which is slightly similar to GOOGLE MAPS.COM. Just type the name of a town, then "comma" and then the name of a street. You can also use zoom using "plus" or "minus" or drag a map using arrows in the left upper corner. Good luck.
