With the largest density of castles and chateaux per square kilometer in Europe and incredible, un-spoilt mountain, forest, river and wetland landscapes, there is so much to see.
The foundations of walking in the Czech Republic were laid down by the Czech Tourist Club over 100 years ago. At this time an extensive network of hiking trails was created and marked out by hundreds of club members. Today an excellent web - 38 500 km - of well-marked, well-connected, Czech hiking trails is the legacy of their work and they are still maintained by club members on a purely voluntary basis.
The marking system is very easy to follow and you will see painted signs on posts, rocks and trees along the way with sign posts at main hiking route junctions detailing kilometers to the nearest towns.

Publishing company SHOCART publishes "CITY MAP of BRNO", scaled 1:20 000 and on the reverse side there is a "MAP of BRNO and ITS SURROUNDINGS" scaled 1:100 000. Both maps are available at any bookshop.

Enjoy the marked cycling routes which you can follow from the MAPS for the CYCLISTS published by company SHOCART. Each region offers a detailed a Map for the Cyclists scaled 1:75 000 with the detailed description of sites in English and German. A profile of recommended cycling routes is also published there. These maps are available at every bookshop.

If you want to hike anywhere in the Czech Republic it is good to buy a green HIKING MAP scaled 1:50 000, which is availbale at every bookshop. On the reversed side there is a description of a particular area.
